You are right, this style of guitar has been made by Yamaha for many years so it will take some time to figure out the exact model/year of this instrument. I suggest you go ahead and pay the $10 to access the Yamaha catalogs in the Catalog Library to figure out what you have. I have a fairly complete selection of Yamaha catalogs so I think chances are good you'll find useful information.
