I'm really not sure what you have since Fender has celebrated more "anniversaries" than my great aunt Tessie. It seems like half their product line is celebrating some anniversary recently. Must be a good marketing tool.
The 50th anniversary instruments I'm most familiar with were the 1996 range that can be seen here:
These instruments have the gold plating you describe.
Fender also had a 50th anniversary Precision bass in 2001 but it had a butterscotch finish and no gold hardware. You can read about this instrument here:
I just don't know about a 50th anniversary Precision Bass produced in 2006. This doesn't mean there wasn't one, especiallly if it is a custom shop model. However, I'm afraid we can't talk value until we figure out what you have. Can you supply some more information or perhaps a photo.
