clare, you have a desirable and collectible instrument. If you are planning to sell, I suggest you get an appraisal from a knowledgeable vintage guitar dealer rather than a price guide. The money you invest in the appraisal will be earned back by the more accurate selling price.
If you don't have a local appraisal resource, go ahead and use Gruhn's appraisal service. It will cost $50, but you'll receive a realistic appraisal of your instrument. Here's the link:

I think before we can suggest values we need to establish the model of the guitar you own.
Spector was established in 1976 so you probably have one of the early models.
If you have a 6 string guitar, it is likely a G-1
If you have a bass, it is likely a SB-1 or NS-1
Any idea of the model we are talking about here? If not, can you take a picture? sb
