Whoever thinks it is a Washburn has no clue about old Japanese guitars.
Looks like a Teisco/Kawai model to me. Appears to have had the paint stripped and refinished natural. It is most definately Japanese but has nothing to do with Washburn.
The knobs are replacements, the remaining hardware looks original.
BTW, the spring on the tremelo unit is worth $10.

Here's the skinny so far - it looks like it has a Teisco tremolo, but I haven't seen any Teisco models that mirror it - though I have learned that uniformity in Japanese guitars isn't something to be expected.
No markings whatsoever, save for a serial number stamped into the neckplate: 61-1408. The guitar is at a thrift shop, and the person currently trying to vet it before it goes out onto the floor insisted that it was a Washburn...though I'm almost positive that isn't the case anymore. Knobs are clear lucite with black bottoms, tuner keys are a dull yellow plastic that is dry-rotting. Most metal parts are rusted or corroded, one pot is rusted stuck. Jack is corroded. Pickups look iffy. Overall, the thing is in rotten condition - would $10 be too much to offer for this? Thanks everyone!
