Do you think the filling of the swimming pool had any kind of impact on the tone?

I've been turning it over in my head, and I can't imagine how it could make any difference, apart from weight- wise

I'd love to see a little more of how you replaced the frets with the bound neck.

As to the flu shot, you should still get it. The shot includes the H1N1 vaccine, as well as several other strains that may be circulating.

Scott has summed up my feelings concerning your project nicely.

I want to add that I appreciate you sharing your work with us, it is an inspiration to us turd polishers everywhere.

I should note that you are the most skilled turd polisher I know and I mean that sincerely and with much respect. I think the results you get with the castoff guitars you take on as projects are remarkable.

I know what you mean about the short scale, but once you adjust, they are a load of fun. It's like you have monster hands and can get all over the neck. Kinda like taking a spin on a go-kart after years of driving a car.

enjoy, looks like you have created an excellent player.

here is yesterdays progress: a bit of shielding.

make an outline on mdf of the pickguard. i had the old one so this was easy. if you dont, make a template out of stiff paper and transfer that to the board. you can also mark the screw holes by poking through the paper with toothpicks. that way you dont need to make new ones. this one i dont care.

Image

straighten up any bad spots.
Image

cut a piece of pickguard material larger than the cutout and use double sided tape to stick it on.

Image

use a straight bit with bearing on top for first cut. go slow.

Image

then use a bevel bit and gradually raise until its where you want it. do a test on scrap if you need to.

Image
Image

another template for holes.
Image

ta-da. holes ar made a bit small and will be straightened out by hand.
Image

admire your work.
