I just bought an identical axe in poor condition for $10 - Searching Kay logos (and there seem to be many) can maybe help in narrowing down the year range of your guitar.

From what I can see, it is a Kay "Western" model acoustic from the early 1960's. It is different from the Western model catalog images in that it has an "inlay" around the sound hole and a tortoise pickguard rather than white.

Unfortunately the L797 number you have found is not a model number, it is some type of production code Kay adopted. Here is an old thread that discusses this issue:
