I'm looking to install one of these knob tuners made by "N-Tune"

It'll be non destructive so I wont have to ruin this beautiful guitar but I'm just curious. Should I be using a 250K pot or a 500k pot?

I'm pretty sure that single coil means I should use the 250K model but I want to be sure before I go buying it!!

Sorry to bring this topic back up again but I'm just curious. Does this guitar have a humbucker or is it a single coil?

It looks like a humbucker but i've never dealt with vintage kays before.

I'm only asking because I need to know if it's closer to a les paul or a fender strat

I'm really glad to hear it plays so well. I don't really understand what you mean about putting dots on the guitar though. care to elaborate?

If the answer is worth $10 to you, I suggest you subscribe to the catalogs and figure out exactly what you have.

I have posted a fairly complete range of Kay catalogs from 1959 to 1966 in the Electric Guitar Catalog Library. I think the only year I'm missing is 1963. A small investment in information will likely answer all you questions.

Gruhn's has a one pup example for sale. They date theirs as 1960 and are asking $350 for it.

I can't link to the photos directly but you can see the guitar by going to their website and checking their inventory. The Kay is listed under Misc. Solidbody Guitars for some reason. I guess it is considered a "tweener".
