My experience has been that the really heavy Fenders are from around '78. My '78 P-bass, and a friend's '78 Strat, are among the heaviest Fenders I've come across.

It's a '74 or '75. It has the stagger pole which are dated 1974 and all the pots are dated 1974. The serial number is 65xxxx which different websites date as '75 or '76. I haven't pulled the neck because I don't think Fender put a date on the neck in the middle '70s and I am not selling it so it really doesn't matter if it is a '74 or '76. Either way,it is a great playing great sounding strat. Not heavy like I heard some CBS strats are,this one only weighs 7.2 lbs. She is a keeper.
