I agree. The tailpiece and inlays suggest this instrument was built by Framus. Given it is a "no name", it was probably built by Framus to be distributed by someone else. I'd say it is from the mid 1950's and you might very well be correct about 1953. Identifying the model will be difficult since it won't appear in any Framus literature.

Maybe German.]]> Supposedly her grandpa got it in Germany while serving overseas. Looks like it is from 1953 based on the number on what I think is the pickup. The only wording on it is "standard" on the tailpiece and "ideal" and the number "53" on what I think is the original pickup. Also, it had an old dearmond pickup in the case. No wording on the headstock and one of the inlays looks like it fell out.
