It's really a nice replacement - but you have to use the whole thing, you can't leave the baseplate on and just screw in the tailpiece - not an exact fit (at least on mine). I tried, but all the screws on my baseplate were seized & had to be drilled out. (Would have made me really nervous on, say, a Gibson of the same age - that's what's fun about these things).
For the pickups, I just wondered how the thing would sound with a little fuller range. I have a hollow Teisco (EP-8T) with the same style pickups, and it just sounds gorgeous - you can hear some "before" vids of the solid body Teisco .
On the 8T, there's this subtle sort of "AM Radio" vibe, but it's not "thin" - I think it just pegs a few really fine frequencies that sort of say "old", "motown", "AM Radio" to your subconscious, if you will - hard to nail down. But on the ET-200, just sounded a little harsh, playing loud was like I was using a Big Muff.
