"In 1996, Fender released a limited edition Ventures Tribute Guitars (Jazzmaster, Stratocaster and Jazz Bass) in black burst color. All these guitars were made in Japan. Only a few had been distribututed into the US. According to Fender Customer Service, only a very small numbers were sold in the US: Jazzmaster 154; Stratocaster: 159; Jazz Bass: 134"

The one on Craig's List might be a real good deal, at least compared to the asking price for this one.

The reason that I decided to post this was because when I looked it up, it was apparently absurdly rare since some 130 were sold.

And yeah, I think Wilson Brothers currently holds the endorsement.

Fender picked up a brief Ventures endorsement in the late 90's... nothing all too interesting.

that endorsement floated around quite a bit... Aria had it for a hot minute... Fender... Dillon... now Wilson holds it (I think)...

but most of those classic recordings (like Walk Don't Runa and Pipeline) were done on Fender instruments.

The Ventures are bigger than big can get in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a national holiday on Bob Bogle's passing. hahaha...

I never heard of this. Apparently, there were only 130 sold of the jazz bass model though they also made a Jazzmaster model. Any history on this bad boy???
