I'm told. Some nice folklore round these- they were made by one technician whose quality control depended on how big the weekend was, but midweek pups were good. New Zealand needed them to be made here then cause duties on imported guitars were very prohibitive.

Alnicos of some kind
I guess the magnets buried in the goo. Funny how very different it is to the original.

They both work and give me 7.4 and 7.7 ohms on the multimetre so I guess the hotter one is for the bridge.
However I want to stick them on top of the old mounting plate so I can raise or lower the pups as designed and after having the magnet sat on it for thirty years it has become magnetized itself. Is that going to be a problem? And does help identify the make?

Don't know it they will fit - I'm from Denmark and I haven't got the clue about inches :-)

Cheers Allan

I've got almost the same control plate on my Kent American.

I've got a feeling that your pickup is not dead at all, and that you've just got a bad solder job.

How are you with a soldering gun?

We opened up the guitar today to spray the contacts.

My mate asked what "those two wires" are doing....
There are two coaxials heading from the pickups with their centrals going to the selecter switch... they look fine at the switch but each of the outer wires are hanging loose one with a freshish looking glob of solder and the other just ending in an old rusty clump.

I said "I don't knowand put the guitar back together and now I can't hear anything at all. So now both pickups are "dead"

Just followed a lead from vintaxe to here:
http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUHH3T1101

If this can be transfered to a single coil (and it looks the same every other way it) sounds like my tech guy who "isolated the problems to the pick up hadn't even unscrewed the plate to look!!!

Do I simply need to solder the other wires coming from the pickups to the back of my volume pot??
