Those 10 little Phillips head screws were totally stripped out, but 8 were do-able with assorted screw drivers & pliers - oy...
The last 2, OMG! (Oh My Guitar!) - I had to hand drill into the stripped tops, drop in some solder around a straight blade screw driver to make new slots on the screw heads - this gave me enough metal to get them out. There must be a better method, but it was functional. If you try this, be sure to mask your pick shield from scratches and hot solder and drill out the heads deep enough to get your screwdriver tip into with the solder.
Anyway - Success!!!
Inside the Volume / Tone knob cavity, there it was, the date stamp
in Euro order: 69-11-26 (November 26, 1969). Cool! I started my screw removal project on its BiRtHdAy
41 years old!
Now to replace all of those horrid little screws with new ones for a birthday present.Statistics: Posted by RePentant — Sun Nov 28, 2010 4:20 am
