Thanks for the additional pic. I would say that is the definition of a multilaminate. I have a Fujigen Gakki version of the Thinline from 1976 and the finish is even and clear. Is this a guitar you are investigating or a guitar you have in hand? If you own it, I'd like to do a bit of comparison.

Yeah, it is a Japanese built mid 1970's Teisco. I'm not sure what is going on with the finish. Either it is worn in unusual ways or someone started to strip it and gave up.
