I've also seen the same truss rod cover on "post-lawsuit" Fuji Gens. What's on the neckplate? Is there a seial number, and is "Made In Japan" on the lower half of the plate?

You might be interested to know that your Crestline LP copy is pictured in the 1977 Crestline Catalog I have uploaded in the catalog section of the site. It is called the "Super Custom" and your replacement pickups look much like the originals. The guitar pictured has black pickup rings with chrome covers. Someone probably removed the covers on your pups sometime before you acquired it. The knobs do look original.
Just thought you might like to have an approximate date of production for your instrument. sb

Just thought I'd get the pix out there if people were looking. It lost it's pickguard before it came to me. And those aren't the original pickups, those are GFS Hot PAFs. Plus I added a new switch and switch plate. The original (broken) pickups were black exposed HBs with black surrounds. Knobs seem to be original. It's got cream/black binding everywhere! Body, neck and headstock.
All in all it's turned out to be a decent player through some trial and error. Had to get the neck straight and fix-up the bridge. Right now it's got 9's on it and does a good job with the big rock sound.
The only thing I don't like are the plastic saddles, they're wearing out and I should replace them with metal ones if I find a good fit. Replacement LP ones are too wide.
Any-how, there it is. Rock on with cheap guitars!
