But im not sure of the price but i'm sure it was well over $500..

I watch the Aria guitar ebay auction at least once every other day..So i do not know for sure if this was the exact guitar Dano is talking about..

But i will say that the majority of really good condition MIJ Aria hollow body guitar sell for somewhere in between $275 and $350 including shipping..

It is the odd exception that sells for more..

These guitars have recently drastically jumped in price though... I'm talking in the last two years they have roughly jumped about $150 per guitar ..

I think it started with people realizing the quality of the MIJ Strats and super strats and people researching who the manufacture was and then getting excited about there other products...

Now I see eBay ads make a big deal out of the fact that a guitar was made by Matsumoku. I don't remember seeing that 10 or even 5 years ago. So yes, I see the difference in perceived value between Matsumoku and Gibson closing somewhat, but I think there will always be a substantial difference between the two.

Now, I've got to go find that eBay auction where an Aria went for $650... :)

1. The guitar isn't particularly collectable since every Japanese company at the time produced a 335 copy. I'd place current value around $300 USD so you got a good deal, but don't expect exponential growth.

2. You can determine the exact date from the serial number. You guitar was produced in 1972. If you want to know the basis of my conclusion click here:


3. The Arias are nice instruments, but they are not Gibsons. The main issues are the tuners, pickups, wood and construction quality.

4. I think Arias are a nice guitar for the price. You got a great deal. Enjoy it.
