More of a classic rock crunch that sounds like a frying pan through a transistor radio through the built in speaker, not bad through a speaker cab.

i never heard of them smokeys but i don't think it would be producing a very clean sound, i'm not a heavy metal freak. :wink:

9 volts lets you walk around at will, 12 volts ties you to a car battery. Life is a trade off

i wonder how a guitar sounds thru' one of them, and whether it's possible to run it off 12 volts in my ol' vw camper.
i'm always on the lookout for something better than my VOX DA 5. :lol:

and the 1946 fact is also interesting, i didn't know that either.

I can't read the description, but the amp has definitely been refurbished with some modern parts. I can't put a date on it but stylistically it looks 1960's to me.

These little guys can be great recording amps although they are definitely one trick ponies. But some of them have a really good trick.
