THE ANIMAL

Ok I need some help, I have a Gibson Les Paul lookalike guitar in all black.
it has the words " The Animal" on the neck head but other than that it has absolutely no other markings on any other piece of kit.
it doesn't play all that well and the pickups are a bit muted through my Fender deluxe amp so i suspect it's a real cheapy. I got it given to me buy a guy that couldn't get on with it.
Any Idea's.

not vintage, not for a long time, the animal was a brand available here in the netherlands in the 90's.
my first guitar was a the animal strat, my second a the paul version of the same brand, both cheap as dirt about 50/70 euro brand new at a toystore ( Toys R Us if i'm not mistaken).
can be nice guitars, the two i owned were not bad at all, the strat was made indonesia and the the paul in china.
so a typical OEM brand, some are garbish and some are deacent enough, no top quality or valuable.

Thanks for the reply and the info, I'll probably ebay this one as it's not something i'm going to use. With new strings it mostly stays in tune but I could'nt gig with it.
