I'm not aware of any of the Hagstrom Strat like models, Hagstrom III,Futurama,Scandi and others,that had the switches at the top of the body or being that size.

Hey Babystrummer,
Without a picture, it will be very difficult for anyone to help you. Selector buttons were the technology du jour for dialing up different pickup combinations for both European and Japanese guitars during the 60's. Of course, the Strat body style was used by everyone.
This is a difficult mission.
