Another unknown guitar, please help ID it!!

I have this very cool guitar that has no info on it at all except "Steel Reinforced Neck" on the neck plate. I belieive it is from the 1960s, and probably Japan. It looks like a Teisco product, but I can not find any info on it in a search. Take a look and see if you can ID it. Thanks!!

Hey kjguitarworx.

I really don't know much about your guitar other than what you have already suggested. Definitely Japanese and probably very late 60's early 70's. It has characteristics that suggest to me it is from the same source as Arias. That trem unit was used on Arias around 1970. The bridge, knobs and arrowhead truss rod cover also look Aria to me. I can't tell much about the pick ups in the photo, too dark. The "steel reinforced neck" stamp was also used on early Arias but it seems a lot of other guitars from different makers also used this neckplate.

I would begin my research by comparing the guitar to Aria instruments built around 1970 or so.

Just to elaborate a bit, I think you guitar is a Columbia model CSG-691. Here is a picture of the 1965 version of this model. Yours clearly differs in some respects from the 65 but it has the same profile and pickguard shape. The tremolo unit on your guitar suggests it was built around 1968-70. Columbia was just one of many lesser known Japanese guitar builders in the 60's.

Thanks so much for your help. It is a really cool guitar that I find myself playing quite a bit. It has a unique sound not found in typical Fender, Gibson, Ibanez lines.
It is weird that these companies put no indication of manufacturer on their products.
