Global Strat copy anyone?

Hi, new poster here. This guitar looks similar to one in the Lark strat copy thread, but it has a trem w/ashtray cover. I've seen the Hondos/Larks with a top load bridge and larger screw-on cover, but none in this config. Any info on Global? Is this Korean? Japanese? The only thing on the neckplate is a sticker that says ST80N. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Lorax and welcome to the Forum.

I resized your picture so people can get a look without scrolling all over the page.

I think these Global instruments were distributed through Sears in the mid to late 1970's. If someone has a Sears Catalog from this period will you please check this for me?

The country of origin is a mystery but my first guess would be Korean. The neck plate sticker is consistant with Korean origin.

We have some pretty sharp forum members, I'm sure someone will get a positive ID on it. sb

Thanks for the info. Yes, if somone does have a Sears catalog, I would be curious to see if these guitars were in there.
