I really would like this guitar to go to a good home, but don't want to get hosed in the process. I play some but not enough to fully enjoy a vintage guitar like this one. It is inherited from my uncle, the first owner. He purchased it outside of an airbase in England. I have never e-bay'd anything, so I have had it on Craigslist for a couple of months without any interest. I just want to know, a) how much should I expect to get for it, and b) whats the best way to sell, and ship this guitar.

Hey Quibbley,

I checked out your Craigslist ad and I think your asking price of $700 is scaring people off. I have consulted two recent price guides and they agree on a value somewhere between $350-$450.

It would probably also help to add some information about age and condition to your ad. These Tornados were produced between 1965-67. A few words about playability, wear, etc. might also generate more interest.

Instruments like this can normally ship within the US through the USPS for under $30 insured. The biggest obstacle to shipping is finding a good box. Your best alternative is to stop by your local guitar dealer and ask them to give/sell you a guitar box.

good luck :)

This is the first time I have ever posted to a forum, and got in the first post, every bit of information I was asking for! I was positive that the selling price was scaring people off, but like I said I didn't want to get hosed. I truly appreciate your answer and I am enjoying this site alot. Thank You!

Quibbley,

Vintaxe is correct on that price. I certainly would not expect to pay more that $450. I own two (2) Tornados and they are fun guitars. What is the Serial # ?

Does the guitar have any lacquer checking? Most Eko made guitars from that era have some - good luck with selling it. I'll be watching.
