That's a quality response from JJ, most companies won't even reply to email inquiring about their older models.
The 24 fret Guitarlin isn't listed in the Blue Book, only the 31 fret model. Although the 24 fret model might be rare, I don't see it being more valuable than the 31 fret model in this instance. I say that one of the attractive features of the longer scale Guitarlin is the ability to play far up the neck and almost get a mandolin tone out of the instrument. I have an older model Guitarlin and about the only time I get it out of the case is if I'm looking for that high register sound on a recording.
I'm sure it didn't take JJ long to realize it was the long scale rather than the body shape that was selling this instrument which is why they quickly shifted to the long scale version.
As far as value, the BB values the 31 fret model between $700 (Mint) to $475 (Excellent). Since I doubt many people paid list when they bought their Guitarlin back in the 90's, it appears to be holding it's value fairly well.
