Univox Hi Flyer, Phase 4 Natural, SN 031941

Hello All -

I know the Univox brand has been discussed ad nauseum here, but I had a quick question. I recently came across a Hi Flyer that had apparently sat in someone's closet since it was purchased. It has the original case, univox guitar cable, and even still has the "Hum Bucking Pickups by Univox" factory sticker still on the pickguard.

I know from ebay that these regularly go for anywhere between 200-400; but how much of a difference would these details make?

It is really difficult to give a one size fits all answer here since I think the price difference really depends on the guitar we are talking about.

In your case, with a fairly common instrument that's not in huge demand, you can probably expect to get 15-20% more than the same instrument in Excellent Plus condition. Of course, all it takes is an auction and two motivated buyers to throw this estimate out the window.

Of all the Univox guitars, the Hi-Flyer seems to be worth the most because of the Kurt Cobain connection. I usually see those go in the upper end of the $200-400 range you mentioned. I'm not sure that people who want to emulate KC are going to be impressed enough by the mint condition-ness of your guitar to be willing to pay that much more, but maybe there are a few hard core Hi-Flyer fans out there who would be. If you get around to posting pictures somewhere I'd be curious to see them.
