bit tricky. Never seen a JV double bound but thats not to say they were never ordered...plus if it is a JV it will have that on the bridge. Speaking of bridge...don`t use the A number on the bridge to date a Fender Japan tele, serials on mine are base of the neck, front and/or back of the headstock or neckplate and all my `80s FJs have a pencil date on the neck butt which helps determine where the guitar fits in the pecking order. The A number on the bridge is not a serial that can date an FJ. By the mid `80s FJ was making many models, some outstanding some extremely average others in between so for me where an FJ guitar fits in the line-up is more important than when it was made, they have since day one made top end stuff...still do when they wanna...so first runs have become collectable but there are many other great guitars as well.
