Hi BuckeyB.
Dorado was a brand name used by Gretsch when they were briefly owned by Baldwin Piano and Organ Company in the 1970's. As you suggest, the guitars were imported from Japan.
The Blue Book doesn't distinguish between models, only suggesting that acoustics in excellent condition are valued between $175-225 and $110-140 for guitars in average condition.
I think you'll occasionally see people asking more for these guitars due to their association with Gretsch, but they are just intermediate grade Japanese import guitars from the 70's. The US must have imported a forest of Japanese acoustics during this period, I know I got mine.
Not bad for a gift
