What make is that guitar? The only Black Widow named guitar I can find on the net is this Schecter, only made in 2005. Obviously not the same guitar.

Edit- Aha,I found it. A 1970s Black Widow, designed by Paul Barth.

This is one of the common Japanese production models made for the Acoustic Control Corporation. Not quite the same as the one you have pictured. There's a few references on the net that Mosrite also made a few Black Widow style guitars for Paul Barth. I think there's a good chance that yours could be one of those. The paint job definately looks very much like something Mosrite would do,along with the added pickguard. Am I seeing some additional switches in the pickguard? I wouldn't be messing with that guitar until you know exactly what you have.More research needs to be done. That could be an extremely rare guitar. Here's a Black Widow page that mentions the Mosrite connection.

Edit again - Here's an example of a an original Mosrite done custom metalic burst paint job. You can see the similarity. I've also seen some origianl Mosrite done custom paint jobs that have the automotive type graphics on them such as pinstriping and racing stripe, like on your guitar.

As to the value all I can find to go by are these two. This one is currently for sale, asking price of $699.99

This mentions one that was for sale a few years ago, asking price of $699

As far as the value in it's present state, to a collector who wants it in all original condition, a re finish like yours would bring the value down about 50%. Then again, there might be buyers who think the present paint job is very cool and would be willing to pay the same price for the guitar. I can't imagine any way that you could strip the present finish down to the original and have it look good enough to be considered as good as original. Even if you stripped it and repainted it to look original, as a collectable it would add nothing to the value. The bottom line is that the value is only what someone is willing pay.

That Black Widow was made in Japan, not by Mosrite. Mosrite-made BWs have 4 neck bolts on the back and a wavy neckplate.
