Gibson Super 400

I have inherited a Gibson super 400 from a relative, Believe it was made in 1961, I am pretty sure it was made then because it was bought new by him in 1962 it is still in original case. Appearance wise it looks flawless and it sounds amazing.. Any clue of what the value of it could be? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The values on high end Gibsons can fluctuate like the stock market so it is better to find actual instruments for sale than rely on price guides.

However, the Blue Book values a mint condition (98%) 1961 Super 400 at $22,000 and a Very Good + (95%) at $18,000. I checked Gruhn's but he only had a 1956 in inventory. It has repair work and some refinishing. He is asking $15,000.

You'll probably need to have the guitar formally appraised but there are some ball park figures.

That's a true classic Gibson model. Very beautiful and desirable guitar. Speaking of Gruhn, you would do well to have him do an on line appraisal. Well worth the $50 to have a documented valuation from one of the worlds most repected guitar experts,especially when you have such a high end instrument.Info is on his site.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info! Forgot to mention that it says custom on it, not sure if that makes any difference or not! Think I will have her looked at!
