Hi there,

I recently bought a Jason guitar. I know the back story to them and i have been told by a guy from ibanez it was probably made in 1965-70. I was wondering if anyone out there has any idea abou this guitar and roughly how much it would be worth.

Hi Jason.

I don't know what backstory you have been told so I will tell you your guitar is a Japanese made Guyatone LG-70. A guitar very similar to yours appears in the book Bizarre Guitars of the 60's with a date of 1960. Their dating is likely not perfect but with the metal pickguards we are talking pre 1965 rather than post 1965. The guitar in BG has a stop tailpiece while yours has a trem, otherwise, same guitar.

As far as value goes, you are probably in the $350-$450 range to the right guy assuming the instrument is playable.
