Gibson ES 225t!

So a buddy of mine found this guitar in his grandmas house after she passed away... He did some of his own research and thought it was made in 1955, although the information that I have found says that it's a 58... So, I bring it here, to you professionals... The wrap around trapeze bridge is broken, obviously... He still has it and is planning on getting it welded back together. He's not sure if he wants to sell it yet, or if he wants to keep it to play... but he's just looking for some more information... I've attached a few pics, this thing is in near mint condition. The white spots on the one picture is just from the lighting of the camera, and possibly some dust...

The serial Number (or possibly FON?) on the inside of one of the F holes is T6484 34 1. and obviously, has one P90 PU.... THANKS GUYS!!!

Sweet looking guitar, mate!
The "T" prefix does indeed make it a '58, as you suspected..the ES-225T was introduced in 1955, so perhaps that's how your friend came up with that date...
Looks to be virtually unplayed, too..he's a lucky guy !

Very nice,but not very high collectable value.Here's some excellent info on the model.



Value wise,here's a few for sale .The asking prices in nice condition seem to be pretty consistant, around $2000,give or take. Your friends is in truely excellent condition and probably could fetch a bit more,but the broken/repaired tailpiece will hurt the value. You can compare and get an idea of what the value might be.

Certainly not something you're going to find as a readily available over the counter replacement part.Best thing to do is to contact a vintage parts dealer and inquire as to availability. Here's a few.







You may luck out and find them quickly,or you may have a long search ahead of you.Who knows.
