I ran across some literature on this Anderbilt guitar the other day and I believe it truly qualifies as a "Bizarre Guitar".
Certainly, the body shape is a bit unconventional, but that is not what is bizarre about this instrument. The Anderbilt is the first (and last) guitar in the world to feature a "floating neck".
Apparently, there are springs mounted in the neck pocket that enable a player to produce vibrato by pulling the neck back and forth "longitudinally" to change tension on the strings. In the words of the advertising literature, "this is a guitar players dream come true".
I found a Harmony Central review of this instrument that states it was designed and built by a former preacher in Texas. The fella goes on to say that the guitar is cool but he can't play it because "it won't stay in tune"
