See for the picture.
In the late 60s I played in a local band in the Netherlands with two brothers of mine. I cannot exactly remember what amplifier and what brand of speakers we used, but I know that we used a Meazzi (Italian) Echo unit (see the picture) in combination with Sennheiser MD421; nick-named: the shaver (in Dutch: het scheerapparaat). We bought this equipment somewhere in 1968 second hand for about 250 guilders. I still have it (otherwise I could not have made the picture). Please do not mind the color it was repainted, the original color was dark grey Hammerrite.
We used it for the singing but also for lead guitar when playing Shadows. At that time I used my Aria Diamond for it as a Fender was very much to expensive for me.
The story is that when we bought the echo unit it was already about 10 years old. That means that it should be from 1958, I was never able to find any confirmation on that date.
Does it still function? Well, to be honest just a little. The recording heads have been worn out and I think some capacitors and resistors have to be replaced. Replacing the tubes did not give a proper improvement.
What I think is really nice is the endless tape unit. It is of a modular type and can be removed simply by pulling it out.
