Wow, what a story!
Vox/EKO contracted the Japanese to build this bass? Apparently, this fella isn't familiar with the sixties Japanese penchant for copying American and European guitars.
I guess he's pressing to sell the bass for $1,400 rather than $400. I hope no one is foolish enough to bite.

The guy is certainly verbose - look at his other auctions!
His replies to question about the bass are always met with a 'thank you for your interesting in this remarkable instrument but...'.
