My first taste of Fender

I started playing in 1966 I had (and still have) a bass from Montgomery Wards and a Silvertone amp. We were playing at a battle of the bands and our guitar players cousin's band fixed us up with some "better" equipment for the event. I found myself standing in front of a Fender Dual Showman with a mid 60's Jazz bass in my hands. What a trip. We won the battle and from that day on I have been a Fender fan. I will never forget the sound of that night.

My first guitar was Teisco ET-220 with a Checkmate Amp. My first Fender was a mid-80's Squier Strat Korea which was horrible to go to from the Teisco. I was a hatchling at the time with guitar but caught on quick about quality. After playing a few mid 60's Jazzmaster, a couple pre-CBS Strats I really learned to appreciate those instruments. I has a Japanese Squier Strat (don''t know the year) which I believe was the last Jap Squier Strat. It played like a dream & I'm sorry to part with it.
