Roy Smeck "The Wizard of Strings"

I first learned of Roy Smeck through his many stringed instrument endorsements, especially Harmony instruments.

Turns out, Roy was one of the first musicians ever recorded when audio married video back in the 1920's.

Here is a video of Roy playing in a short called "His Pastimes" back in 1926. He starts on acoustic Hawaiian guitar and moves through Uke and Banjo before finishing the set. Pretty interesting stuff.

Another Wiz of strings was Joe Maphis aka "King of the Strings".

I'm sure many of you are familiar with his double necked guitar built by Semi Mosely but you may not have seen him play it.
