After multiple viewings of Jeff Beck's performance at Ronnie Scott's in 2007, I'm beginning to believe this is one of the most sincere live performances of music I have ever witnessed. The venue is perfect since Jeff's vibe is difficult to transmit in an arena or outdoor concert performance. Of course, all the musicians are virtuoso players. But more importantly, in a club, they project a love of the music and a love for each other that I'm not sure I ever witnessed before. The camera does a great job of capturing their facial expressions.
So, I want to start collecting some of these performances so I can view them at will. I'll share my passion with you. We'll start with Stratus and Cause We Ended As Lovers. If your bass player and drummer ever looked at you like Tal and Vinnie look at Jeff during a performance, consider yourself a lucky human. Of course, Jeff pays back with plenty of love and respect of his own. I think at his age he appreciates how lucky a man he is.
