Here's a video of Strange Brew performed at the Beat Club in 1967. Typical for the period, bands had to lipsynch to their record in TV studios. Eric's pretty lazy about convincingly delivering the vocal. Jack Bruce hangs a little puppet from his headstock, something copied by several Punk gutarists in the 1980's. sb

ha ha! psychedelia is so wasted in black and white. Eric may be God, but thats a BAD perm.

Still, nice to see Jack Bruce playing (miming) on the six string bass - it would have been so cool to see this live and in colour!

You are so right, how can you be psychedelic in B&W, still, you've got to take what you can get when it comes to archival footage.

I'm sure Eric has nightmares about this video to this day. However, in fairness, the only haircut that might pass muster today is Jack's, and that's a bit iffy. I'm sure glad no one followed me around the the 60's with a video camera.

Is older better? Eric's voice sure sounds better than the 60's even though reports indicate he was down with the flu during this performance. I think I've got to give a nod to the solo as well. sb

Here's a Video of Cream's "Politician" from their 1968 farewell tour. My drummer, high school friend, Mickey loved this song and we jammed to it religiously. Of course, I didn't play it quite like Jack, but it was inspirational none the less. Interestingly, in this video, Eric doesn't get much face time. Must be tough to be a side man in your own band. sb
