Although they were never very popular in the U.S., the Shadows were considered one of England's most influential bands until the emergence of the Beatles. Here's a video of Hank Marvin and the Shadows playing FBI on the show "Crackerjack" in 1961.
Note how the choreography lessons are really paying off!!!

Although this video is a bit fuzzy, the audio is good and I like it for a couple of reasons.
First, it is a very early example of the use of effects on a lead guitar.
Second, the bass player finds time to enjoy a smoke near the end of the song.
