I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a Roy Smeck Radio Grande with the original case & it's still in the Hawaiian set-up (it's not the 90's revival-this is a pre-war original). I've seen the 2006 Vintage guitar Magazine Price Guide and they quote $8-12,000. Should I get a quote from a reputable appraiser, and if so does anyone know of one I could use? I know that this is a rare instrument and I want to sell it to someone who will cherish it. I teach music in a High School, but my primary instrument is Oboe so I don't have any reason to hold on to the guitar for myself.

yikes... the only Roy Smecks I've ever owned were the Airline Electrics, and those never fetched more than a few hundred... but a pre-war Smeck? yow.
Are you on the East Coast? The most reputable place you could possible take your guitar to be appraised would be Mandolin Bros.
