Hi everyone. First post.

My aunt passed away a few years ago and left some stuff to my father. Among the mess was a Decca Nylon String Guitar. We disregarded it as a junk guitar and left it sitting in the corner of his house. Now my neice has taken an interest in it and has asked me to resurrect it. Does anyone know anything about these guitars. I've seen Decca instruments all over the web but I've never seen this one.

It looks like a typical classical guitar, says Decca on the headstock, and has a steel reinforced neck. The label in the soundhole just says "Decca 246 Made in Japan"

Thanks for any info!

Hey tamochantern and welcome to the Forum.

The 60's Decca guitars were entry level instruments similar to Stella. I don't know anything about your specific model, but I can tell you that Decca classicals sold for between $25 and $50 back in the day.

Put some strings on it and let your niece go to town. :)

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know of anywhere where I could get replacement part? The top nut is busted on the top E string. We were kinda thinking about fixing it up what with it having family history and all.

Nut replacement on guitars isn't a very expensive repair if you can find someone in your area that works on musical instruments. You don't need a specific part since nut blanks are generic and then cut to fit by the luthier. I'm sure if you asked your local guitar shop they could make the repair in house or give you the name of a local luthier that could do the work for you. Try calling a shop in your area and see what they say. sb

Great, thanks again. I have a guy that makes top nuts for my basses. I'll see what he can do.
