I have a rare guitar which was made, I think, in the early 70's. It is a Harmony guitar and the model # stamped inside it is H6691. I have searched for another guitar like this one for years and have never seen a picture anywhere including the Harmony catalogs. Unlike many planer Harmonys this one is really nice with large pearl inlays on the neck, pearl outlining on the body and around the sound hole. This guitar seems like it is really well built and sounds and plays great. Just wandering if anyone has info on it's value and exactly what year it was made. I guess there aren't many like it around.

Hi John,
Francois over at the Harmony Database has documented a H6690 which appears to be a plainer version of the guitar you describe. This guitar was made in 1974. My hunch is your guitar is from about the same time.

I'm sure Francois would jump at the chance to document your H6691 and can probably give you a value estimate as well. He's a great guy and knows more about Harmonys than anyone else I know. Tell him steve@vintaxe sent you.

I Bought a Harmony(H6691), Back in 1978, from an old 2nd hand guitar shop just outside Calgary,(Canada), Now my 13yr old son takes it to guitar practice, Like you I have no other info on its value or where it was made, but do have plenty photos of it.

sounds like john's must be the fairly rare harmony "super sovereign" model.
i saw one advertised in a glasgow evening paper (about 20 years ago) and went and bought it for a very reasonable sum.
unfortunately i ran out of cash a few weeks later and had to sell it ( to a dealer in edinburgh ) to pay for my flight home.
there are one or 2 photos of mine somewhere which i'll dig out and scan sometime this winter.
ps, i have quite a few other harmony guitars.
