Yesterday I played one of the best resophonic guitars I've ever played. Because it's rare to find an original in this condition at a reasonable price, I thought I'd pass the info along.
It's a late 1930s Supro resophonic guitar made by National. It has a hefty, triangular neck which is straight with perfect, moderately low action. A light touch action. Fourteen frets to the body (superior to the typical 12 frets). String bending was very soft & smooth. The tone is rich, sharp, exceptionally loud, and sounds exactly like my 1936 National Duolian. In fact, with rolled-edge F-holes, the body looks just like a Duolian with a slightly different resonator cover.
It's original rare Maroon paint is in good condition, with some scratches. No dings whatsoever. The tuners appear to be original but the owner said they are pretty old replacements and he has the originals. Otherwise the guitar's all-original.
He's selling this Supro for about $1,800 I believe, which is a very good deal IMHO. If anyone's interested you can call Joe at 727.785.9106 or check his website at www.steviebs.com.
I have no investment in this. I just love Blues guitars and this one's a rare find at a great price.
