I got this old parlour style Maxitone at the tip-shop, and once I got it cleaned up it sounded beautiful. So often with these little guitars they look great but sound horrid, so I'm pretty excited about it! The resonance is quite impressive for a body so small.
I've only got a vague idea of how old it is: it seems to have been made with animal glue (a lot of the joins are coming apart and will need fixing) so I figure it must be pretty old yaknow...
The logo looks pretty old fashioned: bold MAXITONE in a silver box with "made in USA" beneath, and above a green 3 leaved clover with the letters B, C & L in each leaf.
It has a serial number inside: 3598 900 and a little red stamp of an oval around the figures 6E-1
If anyone has any clue as to its origins or age, I would be very appreciative...
Cheers... Slide
PS. Can anyone recommend a particular set of strings?… It’s got Earthwood lights (I play blues and like to bend a lotta notes), which I really like on my other acoustic, but they feel a bit funny on this…
