I've never played this specific model of Guyatone so I don't know what it might sound like. Stylistically, it looks good so that is a plus. From looking at your pictures, I do have a couple of concerns. I don't think that strip of material beneath your tuners should be there. My question is why is it there, especially since a crack appears to emerge from underneath the strip on the low E tuner. I would definitely investigate this issue before a purchase.
The guitar also has a bridge that cannot be intonated. Without adjustable saddles, you don't have much flexibility to get the intonation close if it is out.
Finally, I think price influences whether the guitar would be considered a good one or not. Since your son already has several guitars, this one will most likely be a novelty instrument rather than a daily driver. The question is does the fun factor make it worth the price?
