Okay, Patrick, here's a bump in the right direction. Vintage Guitar Magazine recently had a lengthy article on the history of the Vega company. The article referenced many of the models Vega made over the years. The authors made the point that Vega was deep into banjos and it's sometimes harder to track their guitars...they also said Vega kept unreliable records. If you like I can get the exact VG issue number for ya.
One important thing you do know is that yours is an original Vega. That is, yours was made before Vega was bought by C.F. Martin (for use on their import guitars).
I looked up Vegas in the Vintage Guitar Price Guide....I'm assuming yours is an acoustic archtop? There's a reference to a "1960s D-style" with a solid Spruce top and solid Mahogany back & sides, natural finish, and the Vega logo & star on the headstock. Valued at $325 in excellent condition. If it were me, I'd get it set up very well, enjoy playing it, and watch it appreciate over a few decades.
Hope this is some help...let us know what ya got there.
Cheers,
Doug
