Another other obscure Valco brand - anyone know which store/dealer used this name? Enquiring minds want to know.

A quick google tells me Lockola was mostly a lap steel brand (associated with Magnatone?), but they had a version of the Supro Belmont too (images from ebay):

so there's the big 3

National
Supro
Airline

plus

Tosca (3/4 size plainer versions of cheaper Supros, slightly different body shapes)
English Electronics (Rhythm Tone, maybe also Dual Tone
Silvertone (one and two PU Artist model)
Oahu (early 50s solids, like the early electric solid Nationals)
Lockola (Bemont variant as shown)

any others?

I'm looking in this space at the moment.

Oahu was made by:
Oahu
Valco
Harmony
Rickenbacker

Dobro made:
Dobro, Norwood Chimes, Broman, Angelus, Montgomery Ward, Penetro, Hound Dog, DB Original, and Replica 66.

Regal is thought to have built Alhambra, Bruno, More, Harmony, Orpheum

two more I forgot

Goya and Gretsch both contracted guitars out to Valco too - but probably only one model each. The Gretsch one was the same as the Supro Super:

Image

this might have been a package deal with a small Gretsch-branded Valco amp....

The Goya? I found a catalogue pic online somewhere - 1962 solid 2 PUs - bit of a frankentein look, sort of odd, seems to only have one knob?

Image

might have been planned as Goya's replacement for the Hagstroms they stopped distributing in '62. The tailpiece is a Hagstrom part (or at least used on the Hagstrom/Goya glitter gtrs)

OMG! amazing - that's my dream gtr, and yet another weird Brand - if only I hadn't just caved in and bought an Epi 57 reissue Junior, I would be on it.

:D - thanks for posting that link - Dwight, eh?

Pics are v cute - looks like one kid has a Valco in the 2nd pic too - maybe another Dwight, right? (Supro headstock shape with no line-out or logo, dot inlays - hmmm). National map in the back?

In a comment down the page, Dave Hinson says

"Dwight guitars were made by Epiphone for Sonny Shields Music in East St Louis IL. Across the river from St Louis MO. They also had several Dwight guitars made by Valco/ Supro as well. They were made under the name Dwight for the store as a house brand for his students. Amps under the Dwight name as well. Sonny's real name was Dwight! "
