Carl Wilson Owned The First Production Model Stratocaster?

Does anyone know anything about this?

There is a quote in Tom Wheeler's "Stratocaster Chronicles" book where Carl Wilson says, "I feel really fortunate because I have a Stratocaster which was the first one Fender made; not the prototype, but the first production model. It's a wonderful guitar."

It's been well documented that David Gilmour owns the Stratocaster with the serial number 0001, but this is the first time I've heard about the Carl Wilson Strat. Is there a picture of this guitar anywhere? I don't recall ever seeing him playing a '50s era Strat. It doesn't give a date for the quote but you would think something this important would be better documented.

The neck plates were struck and stamped before the guitars went through final assembly, so while his serial number has been highly publicized, it is HIGHLY unlikely that Gilmour's strat was the first to roll off.

Remember, the Tele and the Strat were basically the "Model T" of the guitar world.

I'm starting to think that maybe Carl was talking about the first production model Jaguar?
