Help removing Valco / Supro pickups

I'm trying to remove the pickups on this old Supro for a guitar build. I can't find any screws on top of the body, back of the body, on the pickup rings that might hold the pickups and rings onto the body. I've tried unscrewing the outermost screws on the pickup itself, but that just adjusts the height of that side of the pickup.

Any ideas on how to remove these without breaking the pickup rings to get to the guts of the pickups?

(probably not attaching an image or URL properly below- but I'm sure you guys know what the 50s patent Valco pickups look like right? Humbucker sized, but single coil)

hi -that's my Flickr page and I have 5 Valco guitars - on all of mine (solid body late 50s + early 60s models) the pickups screw directly into the body via the end polepiece screws, which also allows height adjustment -- if you adjust them high enough they should just come out.

This pic shows the pickup end polepiece scew holes in the gtr top and the 4 smaller screws that hold thre corners of the pickup rings:
