50k pots? Why?

the single throw switch is fine. all it seems to do is turn the pot/cap on or off. which may be useful but the pot does that already with a quick turn. a little redundant if you ask me. but these 60s guits are known for that. i think the 50k pots are for these old overly low impedance pickups. ive swapped them out before with 250k and it brightens them up a bit. the 50k can be a bit dull. if you find some modern pups to put in there your going to want to put in 250k-500k anyway. try guitar fetish, they might have some surface mount pups.

How about the ground wire? If it has wooden bridge should it be grounded to tailpiece thru body somehow? Have not found any photos to explain this.

yes that is correct. with a trapeeze type tailpiece an additional small hole next to the endpin hole is where you want to put the ground wire.
