1977 Fender Music Master bass

just picked this thing up and it plays and sounds sweet! It does have its dings and paint checking and bruises but overall solid condition.

What is the value of this guitar with the OEM case?
What is the rarity of this guitar?
I was told buy a vintage guitar seller that the black on black is the "least desirable model"

I think it looks amazing all black.

Something confusing here. It is a 1997 American Fender serial number, but the only info on the net of the 1997 reissue Musicmaster bass,which was made for only is the Squier Vista series reissue, which is marked Squier on the headstock, not Fender. They were made in China.



You first need to find out exactly what you have.I would email Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com. Include the serial number and ask for info on this guitar. They are real good about responding.

The Fullerton factory opened in 1946, Fullerton California with the first major electric solid body guitar production began in 1950 with the Broadcaster (later known as the Telecaster). Sold in 1965 to CBS who in 1985 sold Fender to a group of private investors the plant was not included in that sale and was subsequently closed.

Ok.I couldn't make out the serial number.It's S7,not N7? Anyway, here's a couple for sale. Can't find any that have sold with price attached to them.

Going by the asking prices, I would say maybe $650-$675 would be a fair range.

They aren't rare, and are cheap compared to other Fenders of the period, but they ARE good and usable basses. I used to have one, which weighed an absolute tonne!

I know the asking prices there are in the 600 range, but I bet you could get one for 4-500 on a good day. None of those seem to have sold at 600
